Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek counselling, and yet it’s often misunderstood. A certain level of anxiety is a perfectly normal part of being human — it keeps us alert and helps us respond to genuine threats. But when anxiety starts to dominate your daily life, it may be time to seek support.
What Does Anxiety Feel Like?
Anxiety manifests differently for everyone. You might experience racing thoughts, a tight chest, difficulty sleeping, or a constant sense of unease that you can’t quite shake. Some people describe it as a feeling of dread that sits in the pit of their stomach, while others feel restless and unable to concentrate.
Physical symptoms are common too — headaches, muscle tension, nausea, and fatigue can all be connected to anxiety, even when there doesn’t seem to be an obvious cause.
When Should You Seek Help?
There’s no threshold you need to reach before you “deserve” support. If anxiety is affecting your quality of life — your relationships, your work, your ability to enjoy things you used to love — then talking to someone can help.
My goal is to help you explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, and behaviour, to lead you to discover your own abilities and autonomy.
How Counselling Can Help
In our sessions, we work together to understand what’s driving your anxiety. Often, anxiety is connected to deeper feelings or experiences that haven’t been fully processed. By exploring these in a safe, confidential space, we can begin to loosen anxiety’s grip on your daily life.
You won’t be given a quick fix or a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, we’ll work at your pace to help you develop your own understanding and coping strategies — tools that are genuinely yours, built around your unique experience.
You Don’t Have to Face It Alone
If anxiety is something you’re struggling with, please know that you don’t have to face it alone. Many people live with anxiety for years before reaching out, often because they feel they should be able to “just get on with it.” But anxiety isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a signal that something needs attention.
Getting in touch is the first step, and I’m here whenever you’re ready.
